Our secret starts here

The 4 eco-friendly apartments provide a lovely, relaxing and comfortable place to stay with private terraces with wonderful views across to the river valley. The gentle sounds of the river and nature draws you towards the river where you will find the restored flour mill and cosy mill cottage.

Walking down through our (almost) tropical gardens, pathways reach the old mill and the traditional wood oven House. You can picnic by the river, sunbathe and swim.

Crossing over the other side there are numerous walking trails where you can find paths to the Old Mill along the river, or up through the cork and chestnut forests to discover the old smugglers routes from Spain. There are outstanding views back to the main House and apartments with the backdrop of hilltop town of Marvao. A must for a photograph.

The Lost Valley of Ramila is a real find – like a treasure chest full of wonderful jewels – not to be missed.

Meet Ritsuko and Ron

Ritsuko and Ron discovered the Lost Valley whilst searching for many years for that very special place in the Portugal. Instantly, they fell in love and set about to restore this ‘Lost Valley’ and mills by the river to its former self and to exploit the natural beauty of the setting. By building guest accommodation using natural materials (woods and cork) to fit in with the environment, they are able to share to wonders of the place with you. Ritsuko loves her gardens and has a passion for cooking using fresh and natural ingredients. Ron loves music and photography. Both enjoy nature, swimming and relaxing with a good book (if they have a moment to spare!).
